Art Show

Twelve of my paintings are now hanging up at the Mission Ridge retirement home! I've been receiving really positive feedback so far and am very excited about the whole thing. It's been a good experience and I can't wait to jump back into painting and get more art ready for more future shows!

If you're interested in going to see the showing it is hanging at Mission Ridge at 3840 Rimrock Road, Billings Montana 59102. Or you can visit their website: http://www.missionridge.org/

The show will be up all of April, information on purchasing prints will be made available soon!

Again, thank you everyone for your support!

Best Week Ever... sorta...

Okay, had a whole week off from my day job to work on finishing things for my upcoming show... and aside from getting the nastiest cold I've ever had the pleasure of welcoming into my respiratory system, I got a ton done!

On the show front, started getting high-quality prints made and all the measuring details. Now I just gotta make up some mats and pick out some frames!

I've also begun work on rebranding, make a custom banner and background and maybe some business cards. My current ones are very dull.

I'll post soon with some actual art or something, until then, farewell!

My Portfolio

I only post bits and pieces of my current works on this blog, but if you want to see more, don't forget to check out my online portfolio here: http://kyleploehn.carbonmade.com/

Thanks!

The Biggest Problem with Blogs are the Titles

Seriously, I can never come up with a good title. It has actually kept me from posting, that blinky little cursor staring me down on a blank line. However, because 2012 has been awesome thus far, I'm facing down the blank page and hammering words into it!

Already been a month since I last posted, so much for my resolution to be better about posting progress... Anyway, The novel is done and the editing process has been going full swing, started two more books a mystery and a very... well I'm not really sure what it is yet. On the art front I've got a dozen finished paintings, a few tattoo designs, the workings for two children's books and a graphic novel that is itching between my ears, just begging to come out.

This is my concept art for the children's book. I think it'll end up on the dedication page in the end. Already got most of the rhyming tale complete and the first couple of pages finished.

Also exciting news! I'm preparing for my fist art show since college at the end of the month! I'm not going to release any specifics just yet in case it falls through, but I'm excited!

Oh, and here is that finished Tattoo from before. It was fun to do even if it's basically just a tribute to Peter Jackson's version of Sauron. I can't wait to see it completed and tattooed!

Well, that's just the tip of the iceberg, but I gotta get back to work! And here is hoping... again... that I get around to posting more often.

Later!

Blogger the App!

As it is I get so enthralled with my projects I forget to post anything, so in an effort to help negate this, I've downloaded a mobile version so I can post from my phone during those down hours away from my computer.

Anyway here's a sketch for a tattoo commission I was working on today!

I've also been working on getting a number of fine art paintings together to hopefully put together that show I keep talking about. Got 6 done and 3 partials! I'll post some of those soon!

Bear Mania

So pretty much my biggest client for (really fun) commissions has been my old High School, West High this past year. The Basketball Bear poster I made around this time last year is posted here somewhere for those who never saw it... Anyway, this year they called on me again for both Football and Wrestling, and then for good measure I made and donated a random bear portrait thing for the winter sports fundraiser...

Needless to say, I feel I'm getting pretty good at painting bears!
So I thought I'd post the fruits of my painting labors and spread the bear mania about a bit. Enjoy!

If you have any interest in obtaining a copy of the football or wrestling poster please contact Billings West High School. Here is their website: http://billingswest.billings.k12.mt.us/

If you'd like a copy of the Golden Bear print just shoot me a message, either here or to my Email, kyleploehn@gmail.com. Please include something in the subject line about 'golden bear print' or 'art'.
Thanks!
